The Saint Nedelya Church dates from the end of the 19th Century and is built on remains of several smaller churches from medieval times. It was largely destroyed in 1925 when a bomb was set off in an attempt to kill Tsar Boris III. Instead of him 200 people were killed. The Church stands on a square in front of the Sheraton hotel.
